Project Ambika is a social and environmental initiative that aims to provide biodegradable sanitary napkins to women in slum areas, while also providing livelihood to women belonging to these areas. The project was founded in 2018 by a group of young women who were inspired by the plight of underprivileged women who struggled to access menstrual hygiene products.

Project Ambika works with self-help groups (SHGs) in slum areas to train and employ women in the production of biodegradable sanitary napkins. The SHGs are provided with the necessary raw materials and equipment, as well as training on the production process. The sanitary napkins produced by these SHGs are then distributed to women in slum areas at subsidized rates.

In addition to providing affordable menstrual hygiene products, Project Ambika also educates women about menstrual hygiene and reproductive health. The project conducts workshops and awareness programs to dispel myths and taboos surrounding menstruation. Project Ambika also works to break down the stigma associated with menstruation, and to create a more supportive environment for women during their menstrual cycle.
